Mental Health Consultation

We all experience challenging emotional issues at different times. We can’t always deal with these on our own. If you feel you need help and it’s not an emergency, it’s best to speak with a doctor.

When you speak with a telehealth doctor, they’ll assess what help you need. This could include:

  • Making a mental health assessment
  • Referring you to a psychiatrist or other mental health professional
  • Giving you a prescription for medicines to treat depression or anxiety.
  • Please note that we are unable to offer Mental Health Treatment Plans.
  • No Medicare rebate available.

Overseas Visitors

This online doctor appointment fee applies for overseas visitors without a Medicare card. This is an online consultation with a qualified doctor that involves, a review of your medical history and presenting problem, discussion of symptoms and signs, advising on diagnosis and management, ordering tests and investigations, prescribing medication and repeat prescriptions, facilitating referrals to other practitioners, providing any certificates and arranging follow up.

For patients who are seeking medical assistance to achieve lasting weight loss.

At the first consultation the doctor will go through your questionnaire, your history and discuss options that could be suitable. At the end of this you may need to have some blood tests, or other investigations or referrals organised.

We will then have a review appointment with you to confirm the best treatment plan and implement a follow up programme for you.

Medicare rebates are available.

Healthy Lifestyle Consultations

Up to 15 Minutes

AUD $89

Hair Restoration:

There are many forms of hair loss, but androgenic alopecia is the commonest form of male pattern baldness.

Oral treatments for this have been available for many years, but due to side effects not everyone can tolerate those treatments. Fortunately there are now topical solutions that are effective and have fewer side effects.

It is not only males that can have issues with hair loss. Females can also benefit from a range of therapies and topical treatments.

Smoking Cessation:

The serious effects of smoking on our health are well known and you may have been thinking about quitting, but have not yet made the commitment.

The good news is that your body will begin to repair itself as soon as you quit, no matter your age. One of the most important things is for you to understand what your triggers are and how to avoid them.

In addition, there are a range of treatments that are available on prescription and supported under medicare that can help you to quit the habit.

Medical Assessment Report Appointment

Up to 30 Minutes

AUD $159

For all Medical Assessment Report appointments, supporting documentation is required. Please email this through prior to your consultation to [email protected]

What a telehealth consultation provides

After registering with Private Medical and making a booking, you will be sent a text with a link for the telehealth video conference call. It will be active once you have made a payment and appointment is confirmed. You will have provided a completed health information form beforehand, so the doctor is aware of the reason for the call and your health background.

During the call you talk face to face with the clinician, as you would in a consulting room. Advice, treatment, and management options are discussed, tests may be ordered, and prescriptions and medical certificates written. At the conclusion of your consultation a summary is provided for your records. A follow up appointment may be arranged, or if required referral may be made to another practitioner. Consultations are typically 20 minutes, and these can be extended for further 20-minute periods if required.

Appointment is booked and any telehealth doctor appointment fees are processed with a credit or debit card payment. Appointments can be cancelled with 24 hours’ notice, or a cancellation fee applies (see our Cancellation Policy). A full receipt for our services is provided at the conclusion of each consultation

‍Private Medical's services to you are kept strictly private. However, should you wish to access Australian Medicare and Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme rebates on referrals and prescriptions then you will need to supply your Australian Medicare Number. When you make a rebate claim Medicare keeps records of these transactions under your Medicare account.

‍There may be specific instances where you could claim a Medicare or other rebate for our services, but as these instances are defined by Government and change from time to time, your eligibility for this will be determined at the time of booking. Your private health insurance provider may also provide rebate through Extras cover. A receipt will be provided after each consultation that you can use, if required, to make claims.
